2016 Holiday Mini Sessions

It’s that time of year- the time where we scramble to take the perfect family photo for our Christmas cards! For us, in the past, this has usually meant coming up with a funny theme and dressing up our pets to match. But this year,  now that we are family of three humans and four furry friends, we will probably take it a little more seriously (maybe…we’ll see!) But for those not wanting to wrangle four pets into kayaks, I am announcing the dates for my popular holiday mini sessions!

What is a mini session?

A mini session is a shorter family session (30 minutes instead of 60) at a certain location on a certain date. I will have beautiful holiday props available if you’d like to use them but you don’t have to, or can bring your own! Mini sessions are perfect for a quick, beautiful family portrait in a natural setting and no studio stuffiness.

When are you offering 2016 mini sessions?

Two dates- November 6th and November 12th. I will have morning slots and late afternoon slots (for the best light). Can’t make these dates? Contact me to set up a custom time or location, I am flexible!

Where will the mini sessions take place?

Daniel Island Children’s Park and marsh area and Folly Beach lighthouse area. If you would like a custom location (perhaps downtown Charleston, your own home, etc.), please contact me!

How much and what will I receive?

Mini sessions are $200 and include 20 edited, downloadable, high res images delivered via online gallery, which is sharable with family and friends. You can order professional fine art prints directly from the gallery if you choose! I am happy to help you choose art for your home and go over options with you.

How do I reserve my spot?

Reserve your spot today by calling or emailing, or filling out my contact form here!

Phone: 843-834-8084

I can’t wait to capture beautiful holiday photos for your family!

Something Blue | Charleston Weddings“Something Olde, Something New
Something Borrowed, Something Blue
A sixpence in your shoe”
-Olde English Bridal Rhyme

When you think of summer wedding colors, an array of vibrant hues like hot pink and sunflower yellow may come to mind, but a lovely trend is emerging in Charleston weddings in cooling shades of blue.

Whether it be a heirloom bible passed down generations or an electric pair of blue suede shoes, something blue can usually be found in a bride’s wedding day outfit. But have you ever considered blue as the main component for your summer wedding color palette?

Something Blue | Charleston Weddings

The color blue represents the sky and sea and symbolizes trust and loyalty. Not only that, blue is considered a cooling color which makes it the perfect element for a successful summer wedding.

A blue wedding theme can be expressed in a variety of ways. From nautical touches to blueberry brunches, shades of blue can be used in specialty drinks, table decor, favors, bouquets, outfits and wedding cakes.

Another great thing about using a blue color palette for your summer wedding is how beautifully it matches with nature.

Whether you’re reciting your vows with your toes in the sand, walking an aisle lined with ancient oaks, or cruising the harbor in a private yacht at sunset, the cooling tones of azure and indigo can complement the colors and add a pop of pizazz to any Charleston backdrop.

Spring has sprung in Charleston!

Time for your spring mini photo session amongst the beautiful azaleas and colors that only happen once a year.

As some of you know, my husband Scott and I are in the process of adopting a two year old boy from China! He will be our first child and we are excited to travel to China to bring him home this summer. There are a lot of expenses involved in adoption, and I encourage you to find out more about that at our adoption blog here. We are trying different creative ways to come up with the amount needed for travel, agency fees, etc., and one of those ways are my mini sessions. I did holiday mini sessions for our adoption back in November and it was a great success! Thank you to all of my families who participated! I can’t wait to utilize all Charleston has to offer with its spring splendor for this round of mini sessions.

What does it cost?

$200 for a 30 minute session (100% goes to our adoption fund, and if you want it to be tax deductible, you can pay though this link)

What does it include?

Your spring mini session includes a 30 minute session at Hampton Park (or the location of your choice- Folly Beach, South of Broad, Middleton Place, the Old Village perhaps?)

It also includes 20 edited high res images for download and a custom online gallery and mobile app.

When are you available?

I am booking for late afternoons/early evenings (golden hour!) weekdays and weekends  and weekend mornings through the end of April. Email me to secure your preferred date today!

Who are these for?

Couples, families, kids, pets, head shots; spring looks good on everyone!

How can I book?

Email me at or give me a ring or text at 843.834.8084 to book your spring mini sessions today.

A big thank you for your support in bringing home our son, Bailor, from China!

Luxe Sophistication Wedding Inspiration by the Revolution Wedding Tour

at Charleston’s Premiere Wedding Venue- Cannon Green

I had the pleasure this summer to work once again with the amazing team at Revolution Wedding Tours

(formerly the Scarlet Wedding Tour) to photograph one of the four venues on July’s tour. Cannon Green

is a new wedding venue in Charleston and is full of elegance and a modern feel for couples searching for

that vibe for their wedding. Sara Skinner and her team used the already amazing space and kicked it up to

show how to make it luxe and sophisticated.

Jaw dropping florals from Charleston Stems in hues of lilac, aqua, white, and sage set the stage

with a ceremony arch and living wall backdrop made of peonies.

Lush bouquet by Charleston Stems and graceful ballerinas to set the stage

Inside they used the exposed beams to make a chandelier of greenery hanging from the ceiling that

complemented the custom ombre chandelier made by Ro Sham Beaux.

Ro Sham Beaux also provided much of the opulent seating, ceremony benches, pillows, and tables.

Church pews were used in a new way to provide reception seating. If you haven’t checked out what

PEWS has to offer for wedding rentals, do so now! Rebecca and her team take wedding seating to the

next level.

This cake, y’all…. Monica at Sablee took it to a whole new level with handpainted silver leafing.

Positioned under that custom chandelier, it was pure elegance.

Aqua sparkling wine from Blanc de Bleu was a wonderful touch and added seamlessly to the color scheme

for this venue. And I know you are thinking, blue champagne???

But as well as being beautiful it tasted great, too.

The Ring Shot

Favorite ring shots of 2015

“You take pictures of people, why do you like taking ring shots so much??” This is a question you might ask since my main subjects are couples. The ring, though, is such an important part of the story! That one gorgeous rock or simple gold band is an outward symbol of your promises to each other, something you can look at everyday and relive your once in a lifetime moments and all the future has to hold. Every couple deserves a beautiful shot of their rings! So if I come and steal your rings sometime during the wedding day or during an engagement session, don’t freak out, I will give them back….maybe…. Just joking! Here are some of my favorite ring shots of the past year.

If you are still looking for the perfect ring, there were a bunch of amazing choices! Wow! I can’t wait to see what rings come my way this year. They seem to get more beautiful each year, and I love the trends in engagement rings lately. I didn’t have any brides with emerald cut diamonds this year (my engagement ring is an emerald cut, wink wink), so maybe that will be the en vogue style of 2016. There, you have my prediction!

Thank you to all of my lovely couples for letting me share their ring shots with you and of course putting the safety of their rings in my hands!
